Dermatologists with Professional Associations Bring Value to Their Patients and Power to Their Practice

The American Society for Mohs Surgery (ASMS) was established with a mission to help board-certified dermatologists maximize their contribution to patient health and wellness. Diligent skin cancer screenings are a critical aspect of achieving this objective. In recent years, we have only seen instances of skin cancer among adults of all ages increase. We believe that patients in high-risk groups, as well as those who are unaware of their skin cancer risk, have access to extensively-trained dermatologists with an educational background relevant to the highest standards of diagnosis and treatment.
Why The American Society for Mohs Surgery was Established
ASMS originated more than 25 years ago with an objective of providing critical educational and professional support to Residency-trained Mohs surgeons in the United States. The Society was founded by a handful of Southern California dermatologists who had completed their Residency training and had implemented Mohs treatment into their practices. Before ASMS, there was no organization into which Residency-trained dermatologists were welcomed. We decided to change that. Our society has created a rich professional and educational environment for Fellowship trained Mohs surgeons to share their unique experiences and knowledge with Residency-trained physicians who have yet to complete Mohs training.
How we Support our Members
One of the objectives of The American Society for Mohs Surgery is to help physicians expand their knowledge base and bio-skills. Our team developed ongoing medical education courses through which dermatologic surgery and Mohs concepts can be reinforced. Our courses include multi-dimensional demonstrations and presentations that review recent advances in the treatment of skin cancer. ASMS also has a formal Peer Review program to support members through comprehensive quality assurance evaluation.
We Welcome Motivated Physicians
Doctors board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology are welcomed to apply to become an Affiliate or Fellow member of the ASMS.
