There Are 4 Stages of Squamous Cell Carcinoma

• Stage 0 — The cells only affect the upper, outer layer of the skin and do not penetrate the deeper tissue.

• Stage 1 — The cancer has grown into the skin but has not yet affected lymph nodes or surrounding healthy tissue.

• Stage 2 — The carcinoma cells have penetrated deeper layers and feature one or more high risks.

• Stage 3 — Cancer has reached the bone, cartilage, and muscles, or affected the lymph nodes.

• Stage 4 — The cancer has spread (metastasized) to other parts of the body.
