This popular annual course is scheduled next for November 3-7, 2010 in San Diego. It will offer instruction in the basic surgical, histopathology and laboratory skills necessary for the performance of Mohs surgery. Fundamentals of Mohs Surgery provides a solid foundation upon which physicians and their Mohs technicians may build in the process of becoming proficient Mohs practitioners. The physician program contains a wide variety of lecture topics specific to Mohs surgery, combined with related histopathology discussions and hands-on microscope laboratory experiences.
Mohs technicians are instructed in the basic cryostat skills and related laboratory practices required for correct processing of Mohs tissue specimens. A strong emphasis is placed on the production of high-quality slides for Mohs surgeon interpretation, as well as various troubleshooting methodologies. Safety and government compliance issues also are discussed throughout the program. Attendees may register year-round for the Fundamentals of Mohs Surgery course. Mohs technician spaces are more limited in number, due to the hands-on nature of the training and limited number of cryostats. EARLY REGISTRATION IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Discounted registration fees will apply for current dermatology Residents, ASMS member physicians, and technicians employed by member physicians. In order to take advantage of member registration rates, non-member and international dermatologists may contact us regarding membership opportunities prior to course registration.
